How We Met
BEFORE WE WERE US
Bri met Jake while recovering from a lumbar strain during her professional tennis career. Over time, their conversations began to extend beyond appointments and into the little details of each other's lives. After losing her dad in 2022, Bri had stopped watching Marvel movies—a tradition they had always shared on opening night. When Bri mentioned to Jake that she hadn't seen one in awhile and why, he simply said, “I'll go see it with you.” It was a small moment, but one Bri never forgot. Not long after, they went on their first date—and the rest of their story began.
FIRST DATE
THE DATE THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
What started as a walk with the dogs over Memorial Day weekend quickly turned into something neither of them expected. Conversation came easily, the hours passed faster than either of them realized, and by the end of the day, there was already a feeling that this might be different. One date became another, and somewhere along the way, Bri and Jake became each other’s favorite person.
The Proposal
THE EASIEST "YES"
What Bri thought was brunch with Jake and her mom turned into the biggest surprise of her life. Before heading to the restaurant, Bri and Jake took a walk to one of her favorite spots along the lake—a place overlooking the Chicago skyline that had become special to them over the years. When Jake turned her around and said, “I've got something to tell you,” Bri knew. Moments later, Jake was down on one knee — and Bri said the easiest yes of her life. Their families were waiting nearby to celebrate, followed by a surprise engagement party filled with even more of the people they love.
